One of the best quote which is very meaningful to me.

"We're so busy watching out for what's just ahead of us that we don't take time to enjoy where we are."

I was really down working at this new place, which is new to me, with dull environment and some sort of too-clever staffs. It gives me headache and a lot of tension that made me wanna give up with all the non-sense going on around me. But this few words of quote change 360 degree of the way my I'm thinking. The quote gives me hope and made me become more optimist. And now, I'm having really fun at my workplace though the works are still hard as ever. But I'm starting to appreciate all the feelings I've felt, all the new things that I'm still trying to learn and the beautiful sky that I can see through the glass wall everyday.

"Never give up on what you really want to do.
The person with big dreams
is more powerful
than one with all the facts."

Just sharing positive quote from Albert Einsteins to inspire you this coming New Year.

Video - Universiti Malaysia Sabah Animated Logo

Universiti Malaysia Sabah or also known as "UMS" - This was the place where I spent 3 years studying Mathematics and Computer Graphics. Luckily, I manage to finish my studies and gained my degree.

After graduated, I was called to come back to work with my lecturer as Research Assistant. During those time, I produced another logo animations and one of it is the UMS's logo. This time, I'm using another new software (for me), which was 3D Studio Max or simply called as 3Ds Max. It was hard for me until today to work with this software. Though it's hard, the video and animation it produced is very satisfying. Honestly, I don't really have any idea how to animate the logo. So I searched the internet to find some examples and techniques used from other users. As I searched, I found this one interesting technique called the "bokeh effect".
Here's the link of it: http://www.polygonblog.com/bokeh-effect/ . The page contains the tutorial of making the "bokeh effect". It's pretty, isn't it?

And so, I refered it in making my logo. This is how my animated logo looks like (Look below). You also can view my full animated UMS logo in youtube by clicking this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVycpW2fkps .

As you can see from my pictures, I didn't apply the blink-blink things or called as the "bokeh effect". I wanted to but I thought without it, the logo already looks pretty. Other reason is the effect used too many memory, which my laptop can't deal with. Therefore, I only used simple lighting in exchange of the effect. But in the future, I'll do my best to create an animation using this interesting effect.

Video - Animating MCG Logo Ver. 2

This is the 2nd version of the MCG logo animation. This time, I'm using Flash Macromedia to animate the logo. The idea is like this. First, the logo is being sketched using a pen. Then, colouring it using colour pencil. The last thing is the real logo appeared after a light ray shining on the sketched logo.

I produce the sketched and coloured-in-pencil-colour logo using Adobe Photoshop. That's how this idea work, from sketched to coloured then to it's original form.

Below is the the link of the video in youtube and some
pictures of my work.

Video - Animating MCG Logo

This is the first logo animation that I'd made. I came with this idea during our group - "The Animators" trying so hard to finish our task which is to produce a walk-through video of our faculty. The video will include introduction and credit. Which means, our course's logo will be included. So I thought about using an animated logo to make it more interesting instead of using the static MCG (Mathematics with Computer Graphics course) logo. Therefore, I started to work on it.

It takes a lot of times since I'm using the old fashion technique - frame-by-frame technique in which, I have to create new picture every half or 1/3 per second. I edited the pictures using Adobe Photoshop 7 and compile (combine the pictures to animate the logo) using Windows Movie Maker. Though it consume a lot of time and effort, but in the end, it worked. The simple animation produced.

It might be bad but practice makes perfect, right. :)
